I sure like the sound of that!!

i have recently taken up boxing as a great new workout (and a personal desire to go amateur)..I LOVE IT!! its so awesome

2 hours in the gym is a better workout than I was getting by going to goodlife

my gym focuses on women so you don't have the intimidation of men around you. I love the techniques. I was able to get into the ring for the first time last night..i have a couple of bruises but i am totally into it..

i was able to work with this one woman, she is amazing, fantastic physique, i wouldn't guess she is older than me..to my surprise 43!!! she looked wonderful, her technique, cardio, form was impeccable. my personal nickname for her was 'italian bull dog'.

i guess i have to rewind a little, my hubby to be has always maintained a love for the sport, he too was amateur at one point. his passion has totally rubbed off on me.

i already feel my body changing, it feels great. and a great bi-product is that i get to interact with other women who are interested in staying/getting very fit. i dont always get those opportunities since I am working for myself from home. and another bonus is that its close to home..

my goal is to get in there 3 - 4 times a week. i have to admit my body is finally feeling it today..but unlike most it doesnt discourage me..in fact, it does the complete opposite, i want to feel this even more. i believe my body is feeling and reacting to new exercises which can only enhance my overall fitness level.

the coach is amazing, very welcoming, encouraging, its all around just a fantastic wonderful experience. who knows by the end of the year, i could take things to a whole other level!!

anyhow last night I decided to do something new and different. Rollerskating lessons!! It was so fun, I invited my good friend Tanya. We had a blast. I am totally going back.Something different to do, and I gotta say..I was beginning to sweat out there, I loved it. I will definitely do that again!!

Ladies, before you get all riled up..I don't worship him like a God but I do respect and honour him as much as I can. I represent him in the world, as he does with me. His heart is so good, he treats people with fairness, benefit of the doubt. He is honest and loyal, attentive, romantic, responsible. Just a doll! I have never wanted to be married AND WANT to have children so badly as I do with him. I am so glad we continue to go in a positive direction in our relationship daily. I am so happy and grateful he came into my life when I was ready to see him and all of his qualities.

hi there,

im feeling great today..a little tired but great. I just finished watching an episode of Oprah's life class. I am really enjoying it. I really zoned out to Oprah episodes over the last 15 years or so..but somehow..now that its just her..just talking about life lessons we all need, we all need to improve upon no matter who we are. its great. today's class is realizing that I am responsible for my own life. I think this is something that it took me awhile to realize in my 20s..I was content in some things 'happening' to me..but not taking an active role. Not only that, but also we are responsible for the energy we put out in the world AND the energy we surround ourselves with. This is something I feely I have really taken to heart in the past 3 years or so. Professionally and personally, I now recognize and realize when I feel a situation is getting to something I choose or don't choose to be around. It's a very powerful feeling.

My close girlfriends often tell me that, when they are around me there is a sense of happiness, optimisim, encouragement, and positivity. I really believe its because I want the best for my friends just as I would want the best for myself. I think I just had an AHA moment. Wow! that is why I am so passionate about my friends who are strong and beautiful. I want us all to rise in every area of our lives.

I met up with a good friend saam recently. its been a long time since i had seen her. i purposely made distance in our relationship due to a very minor silly thing that happened. To make a long story short about an hour before my birthday dinner she calls me to tell me she can't go. I just felt hurt and disappointed. Instead of acknowledging it, I ran away..not very mature on my part. It took me a long time to forgive the situation. A lot of time has passed, and if I am being truthful I missed my friend. We were supposed to meet for a light meal..4 hours later..it was nice. So I am very happy about our reconnection.

the law of attraction will bring it my way..im sure of it..

my home is grey or neutrel in tone, there is an attached 2 car garage, the driveway is freshly paved or interlocked. the front door is lots of pretty designed glass, the double doors are black or deep grey. when you open the door, there is a sliding door closet on both sides, a side table with beautiful vase to drop keys. you can look all the way through the centre of the home. there is a beautiful chandlier in the middle of the hallway. there is a fair sized brown and beige tiled area with a step up, after that is deep chocolate hardwood through the main floor with the exception of kitchen and powder room. our dining room is in a tiffany blue and white design, stripes and polka dots. an 8 piece dining room set is centered in the room with lots of light coming through..there is a beautiful rectangular type of chandlier the length of the table. there are french doors leading to my step down office. there is a view of the driveway, sidewalk, so i can watch my honey and eventual babies come home from school. my office is my sanctuary, very beautiful, spacious, lots of light, big desk, 2 beautiful chairs for clients. there is a flat screen tv and music system arranged nicely, lots of cabinet space, leather chair, its sooo me...lots of pictures of my family and friends, my plaques, awards are all over, i see a huge white monitor..possibly an apple...

hi there,

trying to pay attention to my blog more often. im starting to realize there are so many things to share. there are so many moments i dont want to forget.

work is going really well right now, i definitely enjoy being my own boss, i hope to have steady growth in a way that when my family grows, my business will as well and i will be able to enjoy them both! i know I can make it happen, i have a man that loves me, i appreciate him so much.

we recently had our first getogether with his brother and girlfriend, my girlfriend and her man, and another couple. we got the mayweather vs. ortiz boxing fight on sept. 17th, it was really fun, we ordered food from my boyfriend's aunt, sooo delish!, we just had a good time. a nice evening of young black love...very inspiring. we hope to do it again soon! my man and i cant wait to host more parties like that and bigger when we upgrade to our family home.

the thing i enjoy most about this relationship that i have never experienced in any other is the talk of the future. we constantly talk about our plans, whats on our minds, we might adjust our overall plan slightly but its for a master goal.

lol..hate to boast..who am i kidding, no i don't, I LOVE MY MAN!! he is so awesome..the thing i really love about relationships and building a successful one is the small moments shared, unplanned, but also so special:

he and i were watching tv, and he said that I was his family..that was the first time someone OTHER than my actual family had said that to me and it felt was purely authentic. i really believe in the strength of our love and what we are building.

He put up a light fixture!!! I know some of you might call that very minor, but I look at it as a man taking initiative, doing handy work around our home. Taking pride in our sanctuary. I love him for that! It just makes me feel that much more happy we have chosen each other to build our lives and home together. It's so exciting. I want to future to happen now, but I really am enjoying each and every day with him. Its Taste of the Danforth this weekend in Toronto. Hopefully I will be able to check it out. Just a nice lazy weekend. Can't help but work a little bit...lol..if all goes well I would have locked in 1 policy today. That seems very satisfying.

Hi there!!

been so long since I have written.

Still crazy in love...so happy. My man is just amazing..he really is very special to me and our future is at the top of my priority list, in the personal department. We recently went to Niagara Falls for a weekend. Really fun, we stayed across from Fallsview Casino, we jogged by the Falls, went skydiving, went to a haunted house.

Work wise, I gotta say I am loving every moment. Even the slow ones. I am learning to appreciate this pace much more than my prior position. I am working for myself. So I choose my hours, dress code, vacation days. Its definitely not for the weak of heart. Who knows, there may be 'Karen Greer Insurance' or 'Greer & Associates Insurance' coming soon. Anyhow its been really great. I am learning daily. I can say, I don't miss fighting the commute, the fake small talk with co-workers, and the worst part...having to answer to someone..not my thing!

My family is great, my parents came up to visit for a month. It was nice. They got a chance to meet my boyfriends father and stepmom. Very nice. We also have been doing the bbq circuit among both of our families.

its been a long time since ive been here in awhile..my apologies for not keeping you updated..

im so high on love right now..i have a wonderful man in my life who embodies everything i want him to be and more. i know he is the one..its strange to write that for the first time. many guys have come and gone in my past..but with my beau i feel like forever.

work is very busy, however recently enhancing my attitude starting my day and throughout has made my days more enjoyable, productive. i am in the midst of transforming my career..i have known for a long time my potential is endless however in my current compensation structure its all about the sprint, with no long term reward. i have to think about the next few years of my life..i want to have children, i won't be able to rely on my substancial commission cheques. so the answer: ownership.

i am positive i will be my own boss, work for myself, start an empire by the end of 2011.

family is mostly good..still very sad about uncle george, its right around the anniverisary of grandad's death, mom and dad were just up here for the holidays..they and uncle frank, lorna, uncle charles, auntie mary, andrea, and lorraine, ken and marion have met my future hubby.

they all love him...believe me..he is a lovable man...very..i appreciate him so much.

the drake, kanye, nicki, rihanna cd's has helped inspire my positive thoughts and emotions about various aspects of my life..

listening to the power, the science of getting rich..both very powerful..my mind is open to their concepts and i am ready to receive all the gifts the universe has for me.

I am all about looking as great as you can. I understand that in some lines of work appearance is key. I have been noticing Ms. Jennifer shrinking lately which is cool..looking wonderful..I give her tons of credit. I saw this picture and didn't love it.

Although I have lost weight I don't I'm exactly at a point where it's severe. I hope if I ever get there someone talks to me.

Jen looks emaciated. Not cool. I would love to be a size 4 too, and wear most of the samples out there but if by doing so I look weak..what's the point?!

He is awesome, handsome, sweet, considerate, a real gentleman. We laugh, we talk, I don't have to pretend with him. It's early but I like how things are going.

I remember an episode of Nightline about African American women and dating. The men wanted to let women know they should be looking for the potential in a man. I understood it then, and even more so now.

I am not asking him to be anything more than who and what he is...because who and what he is, is amazing. I feel protective of him, and I just want to make him happy and show him how I feel all the time. It might sound corny to read but this is very real to me. It might not make sense on paper, but its makes total sense in my heart.

It feels really great to have someone in your life that you feel connected to on an emotional level.

The current guy I am seeing is great. He is soft, gentle, romantic, very masculine, handsome. I will admit when I look at my 'list' of requirements of a man he might not fit all of those things. But the things he does fulfill that are important to me I really cherish. He is so sweet, talks about his feelings, is always encouraging, positive, a little goofy, and has a genuine heart. Who knows what the future will bring but in the meantime I am enjoying the time we spend together.

I've been away forever it feels..well let's not waste anytime.

School's in! lol

I have started reading for 1 course, and the other begins online tomorrow. I am excited, scared, and grumpy about it..but I do realize that education can only enhance your life. For me, as an adult I see it as a way to advance your career=more $=freedom=options

So since I started it..I gotta finish it

Work is nuts as always..in a good way..I am ecstatic that in a tough financial economy insurance is still alive and well. Having an assistant is a blessing and a curse. I have to say that I am a tough cookie when it comes to work. I go hard, I have high expectations, short deadlines, and multitasking is mandatory. It was a really full circle Miranda and I have made. When she first started at our office I didn't like her and she was well aware of it. As time went on, she went away for maternity leave and I really tried to let go of whatever ill thoughts I had. When she returned I have to admit..impressed me very quickly. I was told while on her leave she studied and passed her insurance licence, she came back to work and quickly mastered different departments in a short time. When it came time to assign someone to be my personal assistant her go-getter personality and drive..it made sense. She is great..lots of good qualities...and then there's the other side..missing attention to detail, not listening to what I am asking of her. I mean I understand it takes a while to really create a good rhythm. Managing people isn't easy but I feel its also allowing me to see my own shortcomings and work on them.

Weight/Body

I still love it..I haven't been going as often as I would like lately. My sweet tooth has been really cranked up lately and although my weight has been staying within a 5 pound window right now..I am noticing something happening lol..so making quality time for some core training is necessary STAT! I am wearing a size 6/8 right now which is awesome. I feel like I have been daydreaming about this time in my life for a long time. Now that its here I am really just trying to soak it all up. There are still times when I feel like I was 20 -30 pounds bigger not really grasping how much of transformation that has taken place. I am getting used it to it though for sure.

I am torn with situation.

There is a guy that I like...a lot. He is very much a match in many ways. I have talked about him on here before. We have tried to stay distant because of the awkwardness others would feel if we got together.

Well, we hung out recently. Very relaxed, calm, nice, and most of all..easy. I am still having a hard time understanding why we are not even going to try.

Well the short update is that..my guy had another convo with my ex. Mentioned me specifically..my ex was not supportive to the idea. I figure at this point if he knows, and doesn't like it..its time for him to suck it up and deal with it. Especially since it appears as if he has moved on with his own situation.

So over the last few weeks I have been trying to talk myself into not liking this guy that much ..because really whats the point..if we are not going to date, then what is sense in pining after him?!

So, this past weekend I offered to take him out to celebrate his recent completion of an important exam. The day was mostly platonic lol..and then..as per normal now lol..towards the end we start to flirt and look at each other longingly. So..begins the intense make out section..the very seductive little nothings you say to one another.

I think thankfully...for both of us..it didn't go further.

Caribana Weekend 2010

Hi guys!

Overall a good, long, costly weekend. Ian Espinet always hosts a a worthwhile party so that is where Tan and I ended up on Friday and Sunday. My shopping has been getting a little out of hand but it came in handy this weekend as far as 'hot girl' outfits go! lol

My phone was temporarily misplaced due to my absent mindedness, thankfully the nicest group of people found it and returned it the next day..and by the way refused my token of a reward. I am very shocked and pleasantly surprised in the goodness in people. I promise to donate that amount money to worthy charity in their honour.

Back to this weekend's nightlife, this time of year my exes usually come out to the same parties I attend. This year I only ran into 2. My most recent only came up to me to apologize for a situation that happened last year..if you have been reading my blog you know why. The other I believe has an idea that his best friend and I are a good match however would never be open to that possiblity at all.

I am supposed to go on a date tonight but I have already lost my energy to get dressed lol..we'll see.

Marriage: Is it all its cracked up to be?

Like most women in the modern world, magazines, movies, talk shows all seem to preach that marriage is a pretty necessary/eventual progression in a woman's life. To be someone's wife. The idea has me torn.

When I was in high school, I would day dream of marrying at 24, 3 kids by 30, happily ever after..

Then you begin to see how much fishing you have to do in sea of men that you will date in your life.

As you get older you also get a much different perspective about marriage from those people you become to know in your life. Right now I tell you..I have heard a lot to discourage me from going down that road..just seems final, mediocre, regimented, boring, un-sexual. I have yet to hear the things I need to in order to believe in it as an institution. Believe me I want to.

I want to believe that the love I know is out there for me will turn into a loving long lasting beautiful marriage on the terms of our making. Expectations set by us.

I have to tell you all something that maybe hasn't been expressly said.

Dating in my city is tough. My city is Toronto.

Now, don't get me wrong..I date, but gees its almost like mental warfare out here.

The guys you do like, you don't/can't date..and the guys that like you are not exactly the right fit. But quite honestly..for myself..I get bored, I get lonely, I want to get dressed up to go even on a pseudo date just so I don't lose those female wiles that I honed earlier in my 20s.

I guess society/family or whatever other influences..seems like I'm almost constantly told its time to settle down. I am inclined to agree..but with one minimum requirement. I have to want to be with that guy or get settled down more than I like my life right now. Let's just say it hasn't happened yet. A lot of the men that come my way really don't blow me away. Love me some Lulu! I got a rejuvenated feeling after my weekly Saturday gym workout. I decided to splurge on a pretty good investment: me. Its a great feeling when your clothes are becoming loose..the slight downfall is the expensive workout to replace it with lol. I'm trying not to think about it because for the rest of the summer these will be my off-work clothes.

I am trying to move on from whatever happened last night. I am sure there is a reasonable explanation, but I'm too busy living my life to put too much energy on it.

I have been trying for hours not to be, thinking of any good reason why I shouldn't be but I am not that evolved yet.

Back story, I have been anticipating a particular date for the better part of this week. Considering there was a holiday this week, I assumed meeting up would be rather easy. Wrong. He SUGGESTED Friday, I would have liked it to be earlier, but fine Friday it is. Normally there is some interraction between the two of us via email during the day, today nothing. At the very least, I am expecting a text saying..something, anything to what we are doing..where we are going..nothing. This is not at all the type of action I would expect from this guy.

So now I am conflicted..do I write him off as just another man that his word is completely bullshit, do I give him the benefit of the doubt. Or do I do (good ol' stand by)..what seems pretty difficult but doable...walk away, for good.

I get a voicemail later (in the evening) discussing how it was a ' long, rough day at work', and being apologetic for not responding to email 6 hours previous. So at 1st listen, it didn't sound like a reschedule situation, so in my head..I am still thinking we are still hanging out.

I can't really make sense of how I am feeling or how all the events shook out today. It pisses me off to know that I could be wrong about this guy. The way I feel..or more specifically the way I thought he felt about me, this scenario could never happen.

So was I stood up? or should I have assumed by the tone of the voicemail, that plans were cut off? Does he really not like me as much as I thought? Is his word bullshit? Is he as unreliable as his actions are proving?

If you have been reading my blog long enough, you know when it comes to men I can be unyielding. Although I am positive in thought, my mind goes to the negative pretty quickly.

I haven't fallen, or even liked a guy like this in more months than I can count. I generally don't set my expectations very high because I assume no one will meet them. Call it self preservation, call it defense mechanism. But in recent years it has helped my heart from not getting as bruised as it could have been.

Now here I am, really more angry at myself for letting someone penetrate my force shield of emotional armour and 'get' me if you will. I don't want to say I have lost interest totally in this guy, but his untarnished image in my head is officially no longer.

conundrum..we all know that men and women think and act differently.

This recent scenario came up and I question what each sex would do..

Two people date for about a year..they have a not so great break up..stay in touch irregulary but nothing materializes. One person out of the couple has silently thought the friend of their now ex would have been even a better match then who they ended up with, but out of respect no moves were made.

Now 2 years past the break up..one party of the break up runs into the friend of their ex at a party...there seems to be a striking chemistry between the two It is very clear. So the question becomes is it disrespectful to pursue that potential relationship. As adults, can we decide in a mature manner that the past was the past..and if this new pairing is a better fit..isn't it worth exploring?!

I believe when we are talking about 2 women being friends..and the ex boyfriend..very rare this is going to go down. Being in this position before..a friend i later found out dated an ex..to be honest I did get upset..not really so much I cared but it really boils down perceived territory/property. The thing to always keep in mind..we are all someone's ex. We are all someone's sloppy seconds.

If the situation were 2 male friends..and an ex girlfriend is of interest to the friend...guy's seem to be more relaxed with the scenario. What is done is done, move on. However I think depending the the depth of the initial relationship it may be difficult to see your friend date/spend time with someone you might have thought could have been a spouse.

I think the respectful thing to do is to air on the side of caution. The friend should open the conversation about dating the ex. It's what happens next that gets complicated. If the friend isn't supportive..do you still pursue the relationship?

My favourite uncle's birthday was last night. Really fun, its nice to be around family. It was a really nice celebration. It went late, as per all our functions. I think I got a cold.

I went to the gym anyway though! lol I couldn't help it, I felt my body was asking for it. I have a sore feeling that I haven't really felt since I began working out at the beginning of the year.

My parents month long stay has come to an end..they are going back to Grenada tomorrow. They want to try and have everyone down for christmas this year. that would be really cool..and expensive..but im definitely going to try. I'm sure by december I could totally go for a tan lol

So last night an old friend and I caught up over a drink. On my way home I passed 3 ride stops successfully..and then on Bathurst between Eglinton and St. Clair they stopped me. Wow..is that ever an intimidating, overwhelming thing to go through. So..

The officer dips his head in the car like they are taught to do, asks if I've had a drink, I said yes..too scared to lie. He asks me for ownership and drivers licence. He reads me some very official sounding paragraph and takes me into the van. The entire time I am clumsy, laughing, and turning on a little of the female wiles..lol(sad but true). I blow into the Breathalyzer. I had to do it several times because the officer was making me laugh. Thankfully I passed the test and went on my way.

But I tell you, from this moment on I am going to make sure I pay attention to my last drink when I leave anywhere. I think about what would happen if I had a 2nd, or left sooner..yikes..I am thankful, and grateful it was a safe evening over all.

When they come through work I appreciate them a lot. So I talked to a guy yesterday..very stressful..today he mentioned i was much more pleasant to deal with. a little backhanded compliment but i knew what he meant. he mentioned that he does real estate and he knows how it goes. something at that moment clicked..not that i didn't know it before but when i go on my own and as big as i want to be i need to do a complete personality check at the door, every single day, on every single phone call..lights, camera, action you're on all the time.

It's getting really busy at work..at times its testing my patience. I went in today with the best intentions..I had to give myself a pat on the back for the great, attentive service I was giving to everyone..until..that one call..I really didn't say much, but I know at this point what to say when I'm getting tense in the call..anyways this call came from a prominent referral so I tried to rectify it but the guy hung up on me. I really hope that doesn't go further but I've been a little on edge about it since. I have to go on a business trip next month to meet and greet with this referral and I really don't want to go there looking like a fool but they have to understand some clients are a little off, period.

I was happily inspired to write today about just one of those things..you wonder about..could be about anything..hmm..I think I am going to think of a word/phrase that will represent that..

ok..first thing that came to me was brain hiccup.

Ok so today's hiccup was about 2 actors: Mekhi Phifer and Omar Epps. These guys came up about the same time in Hollywood, I would say they have about equal amount of fame, looks, and body of work.

Another wonderful year on this Earth has come again.

Reflection:

I feel as though I have grown this past year..matured further. I have begun to accept what is. People are who they are, don't get me wrong I'm not meaning to sound negative. I guess, just my own realization that everyone really has their own path while on this Earth. Everyone has their place and space to exist and fulfill their destiny/purpose here. Also..I am starting to accept that what I want in my own thoughts of my ideal life are in fact, not at all but will be wonderful and fantastic in a completely different way. I have enjoyed a lot of this year getting to know myself. What makes me laugh, what things do I really enjoy, what things make me happy. I was able to complete an educational standard I set for myself and at the same time set a new goal to be completed by the end of this year. I have been lucky enough to see different parts of the world.

Looking forward:

I hope, I want, I know this year will be even bigger, better, more exciting and eventful than last year. The goals I wish to achieve before my next birthday:

I will have reached and maintained a weight I have set of 30 pounds less than todays weight

I would have liked to visit Grenada, Jamaica, England, and Thailand or Hawaii

I would like to be working on my 3rd or 4th FCIP course

I would have liked to start the process of owning my own office or book of business

I would like to visit Los Angeles and Miami as possible relocation spots.

I would like to start the process to become a GoodLife instructor

Back from London.

Good trip, unfortunate reason. Charles William Henry Greer was laid to rest. My father's father. He was 93 years old. That is 60 years my senior. When I think of his life, all the children and grandchildren..I couldn't help but fondly feel as though he may be gone in body but he will continue to run through all of us.

It was really nice to sit, talk, laugh, and cry with them. I haven't really felt that warm, and cozy family getogether feeling in a long time. I realize, not only do I miss it, I will strive to procure that for my own children.

I am normally not an overly emotional person, but as of late I notice at times my emotions overcome me. My older cousin mentioned to me that people would assume that she and I would be the last to shed tears, because we come across as unfazed by a lot of things I suppose. It didn't take me long to go through my kleenex stash. I was taken aback seeing my grown, tough uncles, breaking down. My father, unfortunately not among them. I was hoping, I would see something..holding his face/tear on his cheek/full out cry. Nothing..not at all. My father is still a stranger to me. That got me thinking, when in my life will I ever see my father cry..at my wedding? first child? for some reason I doubt it. He makes no apologies for not showing emotion. The rest of us just have to deal with it.

I didn't get a chance to do much sightseeing, it was a short getaway. It was a beautiful send off. I miss him. Whenever someone close to you passes away, I think human instinct makes you think of your own mortality. How life can be here one moment, and gone the next. At any given moment are you enjoying what you are doing and who are you are doing it with? The small, ridiculous things that we argue, fight, hold grudges over are really not worth the negative energy. My father, his siblings are now the matriarchs of the 'Greer/Grenaway' children. It's almost like a changing of the guards.
